A night at the races in Surfleet for Sue Ryder appeal
About 100 people placed their bets during a charity race night at Spalding Golf Club on Saturday to raise money for Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.
The night included a buffet, virtual horse racing, stand-up and raffle, with prizes donated by businesses and friends of couple Don and June Wright of Monks House Lane, Spalding.

“But for the last three years, we’ve done it at the golf club where we had about 100 people on Saturday, including friends, family and golfers.”
The race night raised about £2,800, compared to last year’s total of about £2,600.
June said: “Someone I knew was helped by Sue Ryder before they died, so we really wanted to do something to raise money for them.”
