Look at the last Peterborough United side to host Crewe Alexandra at London Road in a Football League match and be impressed at how much the club’s recruitment has improved in recent seasons.

The Railwaymen were last in town in April, 2016 and were well beaten 3-0 in a League One fixture thanks to two goals from Posh midfielder Harry Beautyman and another from striker Lee Angol.

It was a Posh side full of modest talents like both goalscorers, strikers Aaron Williams and Shaquile Coulthirst, full-back Andrew Fox and centre-back Ricardo Santos, journeymen like Jack Baldwin and Michael Smith, plus decent talents like Michael Bostwick, Chris Forrester and Marcus Maddison.
